If you're searching for Reiki in Asheville, NC, you probably don't have to look very far.
Asheville and the greater Western North Carolina region are rich with practitioners offering energy healing, bodywork, meditation, yoga, and other holistic approaches to wellness.
So what makes my Reiki practice different?
Alongside my training and experience as a Reiki practitioner, I am also a licensed therapist. That clinical background deeply informs the way I understand the nervous system, trauma, boundaries, emotional safety, and the responsibility that comes with sitting beside another human being in a vulnerable state.
My Reiki practice lives at the intersection of two worlds that I don't believe need to be separated:
science and spirituality.
A Therapist-Informed Approach to Reiki in Asheville
You do not need to be in therapy to benefit from a trauma-informed practitioner.
Trauma-informed care is not about assuming that everyone has trauma or turning every experience into something clinical.
It is about understanding that human beings arrive with histories.
Our bodies remember what has felt safe.
They also remember what hasn't.
Something seemingly simple—closing your eyes, receiving touch, lying still, having someone stand behind you, or feeling as though you cannot easily leave—may feel completely comfortable to one nervous system and activating to another.
This is why my background as a therapist influences even the smallest parts of a Reiki session.
Consent matters.
Choice matters.
Language matters.
Pacing matters.
And your ability to change your mind matters.
You Are Still in Charge of Your Body
Trauma-informed Reiki begins with autonomy.
Reiki can be offered through gentle touch or with the hands held above the body. If there are areas where you don't want to be touched, we work around them.
If something feels uncomfortable, we change it.
If you want to open your eyes, move, speak, sit up, or stop, you can.
These choices may sound obvious.
But they communicate something important to the nervous system:
You still have agency here.
For people who have spent significant portions of their lives overriding discomfort, ignoring bodily signals, or remaining in situations that didn't feel safe, practicing choice can itself become meaningful.
Reiki is not something I am doing to you.
It is an experience we create with your consent and participation.
Energy Healing Through a Nervous System Lens
Many people seek Reiki and energy healing in Asheville because something feels off, even when they have difficulty explaining exactly what it is.
Maybe your mind feels relatively calm, but your body is tense.
Perhaps you're experiencing anxiety, stress, emotional overwhelm, grief, fatigue, or a general sense of disconnection from yourself.
You may notice shallow breathing, a tight chest, clenched muscles, difficulty resting, or the feeling that your body is perpetually preparing for something.
These experiences can be understood through many lenses.
Traditional Reiki offers us the language of energy.
Psychology gives us language for thoughts, emotions, behavior, attachment, and experience.
Neuroscience and physiology give us language for stress responses, interoception, regulation, and the nervous system.
I like having access to all of them.
Science-Informed Doesn't Mean Explaining Away the Mystery
Being both a therapist and Reiki practitioner has made me more interested in the places where different frameworks overlap—not less.
There are very real physiological processes occurring when humans slow down, receive safe touch, meditate, direct attention toward bodily sensations, breathe differently, experience supportive human presence, and feel safe enough to reduce muscular guarding.
We can talk about nervous system regulation, interoception, co-regulation, attention, perception, neuroplasticity, and embodiment.
We can also talk about energy.
What I don't believe we need to do is make science say more than it actually says.
A scientific theory doesn't need to "prove Reiki" for your experience to be interesting.
And an energetic experience doesn't need to be scientifically explained before you're allowed to find meaning in it.
My approach is to remain curious about both.
Reiki for Anxiety and Somatic Stress
This approach can be particularly relevant for people experiencing anxiety and body-based symptoms of stress.
Sometimes we intellectually understand our anxiety beautifully.
We know the trigger.
We know the thought pattern.
We know why we're responding the way we are.
And our shoulders are still tense.
Our stomach is still tight.
Our breathing is still shallow.
The body may need opportunities to experience something different rather than another explanation of why it feels the way it does.
During a 60-minute Reiki session, you are given time to stop performing, producing, analyzing, and solving.
You can notice.
Where am I bracing?
Where am I holding my breath?
What happens when my jaw releases?
What does heaviness feel like?
What does my body do when another person is present without requiring anything from me?
This is where energy work can become surprisingly tangible.
Reiki for Asheville Locals
For my local Asheville and Western North Carolina Reiki clients, sessions can also become a repeated practice.
Rather than thinking about Reiki only as something you book when you've reached a breaking point, you might choose to incorporate it regularly as part of how you care for your nervous system.
Some clients experiencing persistent stress or anxiety choose to receive Reiki more frequently for a period of time—including twice-weekly sessions—to create repeated opportunities for the body to experience relaxation and regulation.
There is no universal schedule that everyone needs to follow.
The interesting question is whether repeated experiences of slowing down begin to make that state more familiar.
The goal is not to become dependent on a Reiki session for regulation.
It is to become increasingly acquainted with what regulation feels like so you can recognize—and perhaps access—elements of it elsewhere in your life.
Reiki for Visitors to Asheville and Western North Carolina
You also don't need to live here to benefit from a session.
Asheville and the mountains of Western North Carolina draw people here for retreats, weddings, vacations, hiking trips, wellness experiences, creative time, and opportunities to step away from their everyday environments.
A Reiki session can become part of that pause.
If you're visiting Asheville and looking for Reiki, energy healing, nervous system support, or a restorative experience during your trip, a single 60-minute session can simply be an opportunity to arrive in your body.
There doesn't need to be a treatment plan.
There doesn't need to be something wrong.
You don't need to commit to becoming a regular client.
You can simply become curious about what an hour of intentional receiving feels like.
A Different Kind of Asheville Wellness Experience
There are plenty of wonderful ways to experience wellness in Asheville.
Massage.
Yoga.
Meditation.
Saunas.
Hiking.
Therapy.
Acupuncture.
Bodywork.
Reiki doesn't necessarily need to replace any of them.
It offers a different experience.
There is something unusual about intentionally creating an hour where very little is expected from you.
You're not stretching farther.
You're not analyzing your childhood.
You're not trying to achieve a particular meditation state.
You're not being asked to improve yourself.
You're receiving.
For people accustomed to being competent, productive, helpful, or constantly responsible for other people, receiving can be surprisingly challenging.
That makes it interesting practice.
Being a Therapist Changes How I Hold the Space
My clinical background doesn't turn a Reiki session into psychotherapy.
These are distinct practices, and I believe maintaining that distinction is important.
What my experience as a therapist does influence is how I hold the container.
I understand that emotions may arise unexpectedly.
I understand that stillness can sometimes increase awareness of sensations or memories.
I understand that not every nervous system experiences touch or vulnerability the same way.
I understand the importance of boundaries, informed consent, scope of practice, and recognizing when someone's needs would be better supported by another professional.
And perhaps most importantly, I don't assume that an emotional response during Reiki means something has gone wrong.
Sometimes feeling safer simply gives the body enough room to notice what was already there.
Reiki Doesn't Require You to Be Spiritual
You are also welcome if you aren't sure what you believe about energy healing.
You can be spiritual.
You can be scientific.
You can be skeptical.
You can be deeply familiar with Reiki.
You can arrive having Googled "Reiki Asheville NC" twenty minutes ago because your friend told you to try it.
Curiosity is enough.
We don't need to decide ahead of time what you're going to experience.
In fact, I would rather you didn't.
Notice what happens first.
Interpret later.
Trauma-Informed Energy Healing in Western North Carolina
My intention is to offer Reiki in Asheville and Western North Carolina that feels spacious enough for spiritual exploration and grounded enough to honor the complexity of the human nervous system.
That means bringing together traditional Reiki practice, energy healing, nervous system education, trauma-informed principles, therapeutic experience, ethical boundaries, embodiment, intuition, and scientific curiosity.
For some people, that combination makes energy work feel more approachable.
Especially if you've been interested in Reiki but hesitant about spiritual spaces that make absolute claims about what you're experiencing, you are welcome here.
I don't need to tell you exactly what your body is doing.
I'd rather help create enough quiet for you to notice it yourself.
60-Minute Reiki Sessions in Asheville, NC
I offer 60-minute Reiki sessions in Asheville, North Carolina, for both local clients and people visiting Western North Carolina.
You might come because you're experiencing anxiety or somatic tension.
You might be grieving.
You might feel disconnected.
You might want to complement therapy or other forms of wellness support with something more body-based.
Or you might simply be curious about energy healing.
Whatever brings you in, the practice begins in the same place:
With the body you have today.
Not the body you think you should have.
Not the nervous system you wish you had.
Not a perfectly healed, regulated, spiritual version of yourself.
Just you.
My role is not to force your body somewhere else.
It is to offer a trauma-informed, therapist-informed, science-curious Reiki space in Asheville where your nervous system has permission to soften, your experience remains your own, and we can become curious about what emerges when nothing needs to be fixed for the next sixty minutes.
